Flu Prevention - November |
|
Take action steps to protect yourself against the flu: 1. Take time to get vaccinated. *CDC recommends a yearly season flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against seasonal flu. 2. Take everyday preventive actions. *Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. *Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. *Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after your cough and sneeze. Germs spread this way. *Try to avoid close contact with sick people. 3. Take flu antiviral drugs if recommended. * Antiviral drugs can make your illness milder and make you feel better faster. They may also prevent serious flu complications. *For treatment, antiviral drugs work best if started within the first 2 days of symptoms. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention estimates that 80% of all cold and flu infections are transmitted by hands! For more information, visit http://www.flu.gov or call 800-CDC-INFO |
